Junior Rock Eisteddfod

Ettalong Public School entered the National Junior Rock Eisteddfod Challenge for the very first time 2004.  This is a professional event that encourages a healthy lifestyle and is aimed at reducing the growing issue of childhood obesity.  Involvement in the production provides students with increased opportunities to improve their communication, performance and teamwork skills enhancing their self-confidence and sense of value.  It is our belief that these skills are paramount in assisting children to become independent and highly functional citizens who will contribute to our society in the future.

"The Journey" 2004

In this, the 21st Century, we are saddened by the loss of hope for the future many of our disadvantaged students express.  A child's natural inclination is to dream, however, for many today it is simply dismissed as a waste of time and a hopeless pursuit.  Our story, The Journey is about four children who meet up with a sage, old man of the forest and his four leprechaun helpers.  He tells them about the end of the rainbow being the place where their dreams, their strivings can be realized.  The children undertake their journey through the four seasons until eventually they, with a little help from their new found friends, the leprechauns, find their pot of gold - their dreams are realized!  Follow your dreams!

"Pause & Play" 2005

"Where's your brother?"

"They're all the same!"

Our story follows the frustrated efforts of a young girl to find her brother.  A faceless soul, lost in a new age world of electronic games, where personality and communication are put on pause.

Desperate, our heroine seeks the help of the allusive Wally.  If anyone can find him surely the most sort after character in the world can!  Wally and his band of stripy helpers pull the plug on computer wizardry.  They tempt our robotic players with the fun and magic of outside play, culminating in a whole cast celebration of life.

But will her brother choose to pause and play?

Watch and see!

"Wild Thing" 2006

I'll eat you up screams Max as he slams the door.  So begins a journey through a young boy's imagination stretching out of control.  He finds himself immersed in a culture of chaos, climaxing in a wild rumpus and power struggle.  Max contemplates the folly of his meaningless and self-indulgent rebellious choices and returns home to where his heart belongs.

"Dare to . . ." 2008

Our clown can't make people laugh, no matter how hard he tries.  His colourless clown suit reflects his feelings of hopelessness.

Watch, as our magician, with some circus magic, takes our clown through time and cultures, to gain the skills and confidence to sparkle!

Dare to try ...... and you too, can give the circus of life your best performance!
